Albert Goldbarth is the Adele Davis
Distinguished Professor of
Humanities at Wichita State
University. He won the National Book
Critics Circle Award, in 1991, for
Heaven and Earth: A Cosmology,
and, in 2001, for Saving Lives:
Poems. He is the recipient of
the Chad Walsh Memorial Award and
the Ohio State University Press/The
Journal Award, for the poetry
collection Popular Culture,
and his work Jan. 31 was
nominated for the National Book
Award. He has also published three
volumes of essays: A Sympathy of
Souls, Great Topics of the
World, and Dark Waves and
Light Matter.
