Joseph Stanton’s books of
poems include A Field Guide to
the Wildlife of Suburban

Louis Cardinals Baseball (2002),
and What the Kite Thinks
(1994). His poems have appeared in
such journals as Poetry,
Poetry East, Harvard Review,
Aethlon, Ekphrasis,
and New York Quarterly.

He has received the Cades Award for
Literature for his contributions to
the literature of Hawai'i and the Ka
Palapala Po'okela Award for

American Art, Children’s
Literature, The Lion and
the Unicorn, and Soundings:
An Interdisciplinary Journal.
His most recent nonfiction books are
The Important Books:
Children’s Picture Books as Art and
Literature (2005) and Stan
Musial: A Biography (2007). His
works as an editor include A
Hawai'i Anthology (1997), The
Quietest Singing (2000),
and British & European
Literatures (1983). With the
exception of various stays in the
New York City area, he has lived in
Hawai'i since 1972. His Ph.D. is
from New York University. He teaches
art history and American studies at
the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. |
